Some of us who live around the pond prefer that it not be manicured like a golf course. We like the natural look.

I understand your perspective of not cutting away eveything. The pond view while driving out of town is beautiful and would lime the same view from Wolfpit Rd side. It would be so much more inviting and allow those homeiwners (I am one) to enjoy the nature view. Trim not clear-cut.

I agree that for some it would be nice to have a better view of the pond, but I am more concerned with preserving the habitats we are so lucky to have nearby. Many interesting species of birds, amphibians, reptiles and small mammals that live around the pond would be negatively affected.

I do not want to impact habitats of our furry, winged, feathered and gilled friends but rather tidy up and make this natural resource more visible from the heavily traveled Wolfpit Rd. As has ben done at the area closest to town.

There are trees which are half in and out of the water. It’s better to cut them down before they become and eyesore

Thank you for submitting this issue. The Wilton Conservation Commission is conducting ongoing work to improve the land around Horseshoe Pond. The commission is currently working on a plan to review the vegetation along the pond edge, identify and manage invasive plant species and possibly plant more native plants. The Department of Environmental Affairs oversees a Horseshoe Pond Gift Fund. If anyone is interested in donating to the fund the money will go directly into improving the pond and the pond edge.
