Thanks Tim. This is much needed and easy retrofit. It is very dangerous for bicyclists. A simple narrow cut through, that prevents through auto traffic, but allows bicyclists to go straight without making sharp turns to jump up and off the sidewalk is much needed. With that conversion, it could be the City's first official bike blvd. The exact same treatment is needed at the same location on Eureka by Sparrow on the other side of Michigan Ave. this is part of my daily commute and have been wishing for such a treatment for some time. Thanks again for making the request on SCF!

I agree. Lansing can and should do better.

The City of Lansing is aware of this issue. It is on the list of needed facility retrofits. Due to current design efforts on other projects, implementation will probably not occur until after 2013.

This is good to hear Andy! I deal with this cut through (and/or the one on Eureka) almost everyday. It's always been a little dicey, but now I'm pulling a trailer it's even more difficult to make the 90 degree turn safely. So glad the City is planning to retrofit this. Can't happen soon enough! I assume you will treat Eureka the same way?

I probably should just open a new issue for code compliance, but the corner house with the huge garden at Eureka where the road curves around, has let the plants get a bit out of hand. It actually is difficult to get down the sidewalk there even as a pedestrian, let alone with a bike and trailer.
