Description
I have been traveling this section of Forty Foot Rd for 10 years. There is not one rainy/misty/snowy day that goes by that some car is off the road in a ditch or into another car. You would think that after hundreds of accidents that they would replace the bridge and straighten the road over the creek!!
But no, I guess I am the only one that feels the bridge needs to be straightened/replaced.....A road that goes downhill on a bend (both directions) is an accident waiting to happen, and DOES!

SLOW DOWN!

I now drive this section of Forty Foot Rd for the past 5 1/2 years and I have to agree that this curve is very dangerous for a few reasons:
1) While driving along from the Rt. 73 intersection, if you are not familiar with the drop and curve, you will end up in the ditch on the other side of the road. I have seen it happen several times. When I was younger, I also had the same thing happen. I had never driven that section before and found myself skidding onto the other side of the road.
2) The road surface is so slick that even the slightest bit of moisture gives you that feeling of uneasiness like you are going to completely skid.
3) Trucks (of all sizes) are constantly crossing the lane at the curve that is on the opposite side of the bridge from the hill. I've seen tractor trailers whip around that curve and almost clip the car coming the other direction.
It completely boggles my mind how a more severe accident has not occurred at that intersection.
And, for the person that commented about slowing down. That's absurd. Even if you go the speed limit through there, I don't want to get hit by someone who doesn't know the road or crosses the lane. It's still dangerous.
