The situation on NE 1 st is such that I can no longer enjoy my home on any day of the week. I am either confronted with loud drug dealers causing a disturbance, or the ever present smell of raw sewage in my yard from the Homeless encampment that is one with the drug dealers, or both. Gainesville, do something about this, I have had it. I have reported this umpteen times. Like I said, I have lived in a felonious porta let now for more than a year and a half. Done with this.

I live straight across the other side of the retention pond and would be happy to have anyone from the city visit my house to observe. Lt. Rowe was out last week to stop at the abandoned house at 1108 NE 1st st., the homeless camp down across from the Post Office, and at Tom Petty park. Since then, the abandoned home and the homeless camp have been cleared out. The park still attracts a dozen or so non-residents every evening, but not much anyone can do about that so long as they are abiding the laws/ordinances.
From my house across the retention pond, I'm no longer observing anywhere near the level of activity that was there just a couple of weeks ago. Way fewer random cars driving up and having someone hop up from the abandoned home to hand off something through the window for instance. According to Jason, that stuff continues, but is more hidden now (not observable from my home and happens earlier in the morning on weekdays). Sounds like it has moved a little further into the cul-de-sac where I can't see it.
It'll be a tough one to catch happening at this time due to how hidden that road is at the end. I think Jason's primary issue right now is the home at 1101 NE 1st street itself which is where the smells are emanating from I believe. That's probably where the city should focus on regarding code violations and all that. Open air sewage is a problem for anyone living within several blocks as flies will be attracted to it, then carry any diseases on their feet and come to our properties. There are laws in place for good reason.
