Cars do not have to stop when a pedestrian is waiting on the sidewalk. Cars are only required to stop when pedestrians are in the crosswalk.

Thank you, Derrick, Dave, and Mike! Looking forward to seeing the improvements you have planned for the two crosswalks on Crabapple Road between Crabapple Parc Drive and Crabapple Lake Drive this summer. Both crosswalks are heavily used by multiple communities and the school. They really need some TLC and I know y’all are up to the task!!

Coming from Crabapple Lake Drive, the cars on Crabapple Road often do not stop unless I am beginning to walk in the pedestrian crosswalk, especially during evening rush hour times. I have had to run across the street several times because cars did not appear to be slowing down or stopping. At times, even when I am halfway through the walk way, cars do not stop or slow down to let me cross. This is very dangerous, especially when walking with dogs and children. I encourage the DOT to install blinking lights similar to those in downtown Alpharetta to alert drivers of pedestrians crossing the road.
