Description
Substandard and unprofessional engineering and construction
here you can see the where the resurfaced road meets the old road edge that the town euphemistically calls the sidewalk. the road edge is in an advanced state of decay and the resurfaced road should be bonded. the engineering decision to not resurface all including the last few feet insured that the two surfaced would not remain bonded together.
also depicted are then break in the bond between the cut area where the asphalt was removed to replace the water main and the resurfaced area.
also depicted by age, oldest surface work to newest
cracks and settlement in the very old road edge pavement euphemistically called the sidewalk by the town.
cracks and settlement in the resurfaced roadway.
cracks and settlement in the patch to close the water main replacement.
the town got the poor job equal to the money spent. this summer Weston must be resurfaced with curbs like the rest of the area. more cold.patches will start to decay this winter.

This SCF item is similar to SCF items 6118420, 6112684, 6109063, 6102752, and 6102693. Please note the following response from our Town Engineer: The water main in Weston Ave was replaced between Washington Street and Tremont, but it was done back when they still did permanent trench repairs ( and no sidewalk work) instead of the edge to edge reclamation and repaving with sidewalk reconstruction. Consequently, the resurface was crack seal and micro surface over the permanent trench repairs back in 2007, 12 years ago. Water mains in the adjacent streets were done later with the full reconstructions of the roads and the sidewalks. Many of the streets that were simply micro surfaced that long ago are being evaluated for re-treatment in the coming 100 Roads Project, Weston Avenue is one of them.
