Large sections of Arbor Oaks Park needs to be mowed. Grassy areas at entrances especially.
Thank you for your concern about Arbor Oaks Park.
Park mow crews are divided into two crews: the main mow crew and trim mow crew. Park mows may occasionally seem unfinished because the two crews may not have mowed at the same time, but whichever crew is yet to mow goes through soon after the first crew, weather permitting. This exact timing depends on weather and the specific mowing schedule of Ann Arbor’s 159 parks and natural spaces.
With the extremely wet weather this year, the soils in the parks are very soft. Mowing these wet areas can cause damage, so some portions of grass may not be cut during the initial run. However, mow crews do try to go back to the un-mowed portions either when they are dry or with a mower that is able to mow wet grass. Unfortunately, there can be a lag time between these mows.
Looking at the work log, the last time the mow crew was at Arbor Oaks, it was wet enough that the mower got stuck. Staff will get back out there soon to finish the park. Hopefully, the weather will co-operate.
Thank you for your understanding.
