"Due to a depressurization and out of an abundance of caution, we are issuing a boil water notice as we are experiencing low water pressure or no water pressure throughout parts of the South End. We are working to address these issues. We will continue to update you. For any questions or urgent drinking water concerns, please contact 802-863-4501.
If you are experiencing no pressure, DO NOT drink the water without boiling it first. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using it, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills potential bacteria and other organisms in the water. If you are in the south end, but have some water (low pressure) we recommend that you do not drink or use the water for cooking without boiling.
We will update you when this boil water notice is lifted."
Water Service was restored as of 7/2. We greatly apologize for the inconveniences of the service disruption and the precautionary water boil notice following the pressure loss. This is a newer regulatory requirement and was issued out of an extreme abundance of caution since depressurizations can possibly increase the potential for contamination of the water supply in the water mains if other events happen concurrently. There was no known contamination event and both our tests taken early on 7/2 (right after water pressure was restored) as well as the confirmatory water samples run at the lab (which take 18 hours to run) indicate that no such contamination occurred. Our engineering team is evaluating the cause of the depressurization so that we can do everything possible to prevent its occurrence in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact us at 863-4501 if you have any questions.
