Description

Reno Avenue north of Roger Road extending to Hadley is extremely dangerous because of uncontrolled speeding. This is a family neighborhood, mostly poor and probably not much of a contributor to political campaigns, none the less human life that should be protected. There are many children here, many pedestrians, bicyclist, etc. Traffic level is extremely high, so high that I have had visitors ask if "the traffic is always like this", there are both commercial and residential traffic. There are many vehicles that are regularly coming down this street at speeds of 40-45 mph and greater. These are facts I have cameras installed that can visually verify this or you could just ask any resident, or watch the street traffic for awhile. This is a dangerous situation and someone may very possibly die because of it. Pima County Sheriff Deputies cruise the neighborhood but they are under staffed and under budgeted and likely cannot set up a "wolf pack" to cite and slow down traffic on a regular basis. I would like you to have speed bumps installed on Reno. I believe that a minimum of 2, one located between Roger Road and El Caminita and the other between Calle Arizona and Limberlost should get the message across that speeding up Reno Avenue is a poor choice. I prefer the wider speed bumps made popular in Mexico and that have been adopted in our area. They are highly efficient and do much more than give you a quick bump. Supervisor Bronson, your constituents need you help and I know that a quick phone call from you can get this moving. Thank you.
