Hope Police Gave Him/Her A Ticket For Being Stupid

That's what I always thought until it was me driving my husband (with chest pains)to the hospital at 1:30 am in the pouring rain. As you'll note, it is the MAIN artery to the hospital. You don't think it is better to have Penn Dot fix the problem? West Goshen Police say it would take 4-5 inches of asphalt to raise the road, my car was worth more than the cost of those materials.

I don't know how you think you can fix this that easily. It is a low spot in West Chester. With there being a creek going thru there common sense says that if you get 6+ inches of rain it's going to flood. Even if raising the road would help you're talking about a several hundred thousand dollar project to do that(replacing the underground pipe for the creek, raising manholes, removing and raising the curbs, repaving,repainting the lines, and replacing the traffic light sensors) This is a way to get to the hospital but is by no means the MAIN or only way to get there. The fact remains that you shouldn't have tried to drive thru a flooded roadway. And just a bit of side advice if your husband is having chest pains you should be calling for an ambulance to get prompt emergency care, not driving him there!!!!

Marshall St is the main road to the hospital, not Montgomery.

I thought the whole point of this site was to warn each other about areas of vulnerability/concern so that we could be careful.
If you don't think its an area, ignore the post and move on.
I hope the same does not happen to you, just know it's an area that floods and I thought I'd warn you.

Your comment is so very kind, try a little compassion. Agree with the Ambulance, it was a wrong decision to try and take him that could have cost him his life.
I made the right turn and with NO warning the water was up the bottom of the door and stalled. I used to think these people were idiots too but it happens so fast. I tried to reverse but was unsuccessful. When the road dumps you in front of the hospital--it is the Main artery. I did not indicate it was the only way and had it been blocked off I would have used a different route.
I am not in construction, it was the Police that indicated the need for the additional asphalt---not my judgement and I think they meant just in that area. Did you know Penn Dot dredged it this summer to try and help this problem. I am NOT the only car lost there this year.
