I have known Gary my entire life and am so upset this happened. My family still lives in the neighborhood and I'm fearful for their safety. The area i grew up in has become one where you just aren't safe anymore. Something needs to be done ASAP.

4th of July was crazy in this neighborhood.

No to Guardian Angels; Yes to more foot/bike/segway patrols.

The only police patrols i see are the ones that drive by. I've seen the bike patrol on the boardwalk, where they should be. but there needs to be more along Campbell Ave.

Really feel badly about this mugging. What is also horrible, is if the muggers were under the age of 16 and they were caught. Not to much would happen to them as a corrective action.

And I am sure their parents may be in jail to or worse.

I also agree, the Police should still be able to catch the crime, caught on camera / video surveillance replay. You guys need to get on that..

On my side of town, we are constantly watching for anyone that is not a recognizable resident of our neighborhood and we call the Police immediately, no matter what, if they are not. And I can tell you that it does the trick.. Please call the Police regardless, get it on record that you want a police presence and it will happen. It worked for us.. We caught a bunch and pressed charges. The New Haven night - yard shoppers know to stay away from our neighborhood now.

Not sure if cops caught them but lets close this issue.
