It doesn’t take a stop sign study to know that cars build up speed as they are coming down this hill. Conversely, cars increase their speed to go up the hill as well. The existing speed bumps need to be amended to actually be affective. Rebuilding the speed humps is the easiest solution since they are already part of the roadway plan. If the cars do not slow down, the kids walking to school will be the ones to pay the price. Isn’t it better to be proactive then reactive before someone gets hurt?

Humps will be checked to make sure that they are built to specification.

At a minimum, can the speed humps be painted to accentuate their existence. This should make them stand out. Although this might be temporary as soon as drivers adapt.

It seems that sidewalks should be built here.

They really should replace the speed "humps" with speed "bumps". The little humps are comical. They aren't large enough and cars don't slow down for them. SUVs just fly over them. Kids play here. Please address this.

You could put giant speed bumps and it still doesn’t address the issue that this is a narrow road with no sidewalks. There’s no safe place for those kids to be no matter how slow the cars may be going. There’s a school nearby here. The county needs to install proper sidewalks and lights along hale haven and Doncaster.

I agree that sidewalks along the entire road would be an improvement(some portions already have them) but that isn’t really the purpose of this request as the concern raised was regarding the speed of traffic. Giant speed bumps would certainly slow traffic.

Perhaps it makes sense to open another issue for the sidewalks since it would be a much larger effort and more costly effort?

I think an update is warranted... It’s been 11 months since this request has been submitted and the only action by the county has been to verify the the speed bump was installed correctly (per this posting). What actually happened was the roadway was repaved a month ago and the speed table and speed hump was removed. I thought it might be replaced, but today the double yellow line was painted and no sign of replacing the speed humps. What is going to happen next?

George - I reported this as well. We might need to escalate since it doesn’t seem like they realize they removed the humps(which are pathetic, I know).
