Description

Downtown East Haven, on Main St, where the library is, cars are speeding (one SUV must have been going 50 mph), and there is a clearly marked sign at a crosswalk to STOP for pedestrians - after 6 cars didn't even slow down, I finally had to step out into traffic a little to scare a driver - this was 4pm yesterday - good place for East Haven officers to hand out some tickets

Jill is correct. most drivers do not stop at crosswalks at that area and in front of the Dunkin' Donuts. Drivers are also going through the electronic crosswalk signal in front of Town Hall when it buzzes for people to cross. That REALLY needs to be addressed before someone is run over.

this is a constant problem on main street in east haven. i've tried to walk to stop and shop which is a 5 min walk from my house and have to cross and unless you step into the road and risk getting hit they don't stop

I agree, I live down there too and I walk and have children that walk as well, it's very dangerous for everyone. I see many elderly people walking too, just last night a man in a wheelchair was crossing at the Town Hall and a car almost hit him!! Something needs to be done quickly or someone is going to be seriously hurt or worse.
