I would love to see something done about dog welfare in general in this city. I would guess that every 3 blocks in this city has a dog chained up to a fence that has never been taken on a walk in its sad life.

When did it become trendy to have a pit(bull)?

Why do people that cant even pay their rent/bills feel like owning a pit is going to make life better?

The fact is if one cant walk a dog at least once a day(and pick up after them) they shouldnt have a dog.

Could you set up a watch area for the local Humane Society so they receive alerts on animal complaints as well?

The Police LT has been notified as well as the Chief.

No one has commented that this is still going on recently so it might be resolved.

Every City Dept has a phone number, Do not rely on this site to get your problems fixed, especially when it involves a living being. Animal Control does not have the internet.

Animal Control and the Police dept were contacted several months ago( by the original writer of this complaint) regarding this matter. The complaint was investigated by both during the summer and the dog is fine.

The dog is not being neglected and it does not live in the garage. There is a family room/ bedroom directly adjacent to the garage, where the dog is kept when the owner is not home. The dog is a healthy 4 year old chunky PUG. Apparently the neighbors do not get along ( they were aquaintances at one point).

Several other neighbors were asked if they heard the dog crying and the answer was no. There are also two dogs(Boxer and an unseen small dog) that live in the unit next to the Pug that were making a lot noise and their owner was not home at the time. No one complained about them.

Point is it was investigated and the dog is healthy.

I do not have any knowledge if the dog was hit by a car, but if anyone lets their dog out without a leash then it is definitely an accident waiting to happen.

We also agree that calling police is the first place you should go in animal abuse cases so a report can be filed.

We are happy that you documented it here as well though so now we have the information from Officer Johnson as to what to do in this situation.

Also, Officer Johnson, I believe that you were at the shelter last fall when we rescued a little black dog from the River Street area.

We elected to take her home as you guys were pretty full.

Wanted to thank you guys for trying to help us catch her at the time.

She is healthy and happy and we're happy to have her in our house.

I asked the man next door if he had seen or heard the dog recently. He said the crying had been less often since the investigation but one of the owners told him about the dog being hit by a car last month and not hearing another cry since.

BTW the Ramos family moved to Madison a year ago. We miss them. Mark decola rents to this family.
