Description
All of Foote street and Corbin road need to be re-paved. The pot holes have been getting worse over the past few years. The patch work doesn’t last more than a month or so. These roads have been cut up and patched several times and they are terrible to drive on.

The Town is currently working with Southern Connecticut Gas while the gas company completes an upgrade of the gas main along Foote and Corbin. The gas company is in the process of converting the houses within a portion of the Ridge Road area to the newly installed main. There are still a few houses within this network that SCG is taking the heavily regulated steps before they are cut off. We have not been given the locations.
Once all the houses are transferred to the new main or disconnected, the gas company will then abandon the old main (remove gas from the main and fill it with nitrogen) and cut it off from the old system.
Once the abandonment occurs, then Town will be able to do any additional work on the road up to and including repaving.
We do not have a time frame from the gas company yet. These conversions can take as long as two years depending on how long it takes to gain access to the houses and make the conversion.

The Town is currently working with Southern Connecticut Gas while the gas company completes an upgrade of the gas main in this area. The gas company is in the process of converting the houses to the newly installed main. We have spoken to SCG within the past 30 days.
They are working on the LEGAL process which is very highly regulated by PURA (Public Utility Regulatory Agency that regulates all the utilities), to begin the process to cut off anyone who will not allow access to conduct any necessary conversions. This process is deliberately long and tedious to protect the consumer.
If they have to cut the consumer off, it will require additional cutting in the road to disconnect the gas service at the main. This is another regulatory mandate. The gas company cannot leave a live service to a house if it is not being used.
We are continuing to work with SCG. I try to check with them periodically, at least every quarter.
