Description
New bike lane segregation puts riders down a 1 metre wide chute with raised concrete edges as a lead in to a road junction, slightly down hill. On the far side of the junction the bike lane runs into a curb, and the side road (Douglas Parade) is a giveway, so motorists regularly move to block the bike lane while waiting to turn right on to Kent Avenue.
Bicyclists are moved to the worst possible defensive position, with no escape, and nowhere to go but on a collision course with a solid object. Shame on Bicycle Networks who cosulted on the design, and the design company, GTA Traffic Consultants.
