Description
Alot of Drivers coming from Keim Street, and driving to Keim Street drive at an extremely high rate of speed (that is highly dangerous). I think someone is going to get hurt, and I am in hopes of leaning on the help of the township for assistance. Please help.

If your account is accurate then the speed limit should be raised.
Studies have shown that artificially low speed limits (lower than the 80th percentile, INCREASE accidents by between 2-9%. cite http://www.nhtsa.com/.
If only a few are, but since you said a lot I'm taking your word for it, then that would be a different case.
People ignore artificially low speed signs which causes a generally higher disparity of travel speed which results in higher accidents.
Lets raise the speed limit to prevent these accidents.

Ted,
I read your comment, and hear your concern;however, there are some who are traveling in excess of 40 mph on S. Hills Blvd, with, the possiblility of severe injuries.

Ted,
I see your point;however, why wait for something to happen to someone if you can try to prevent it?
Curious if you agree or disagree.

You can start here...
Reduction in all motor vehicle accidents to 1950 levels and fatalities to 1962 level. numbers and rate!
http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/Pubs/811346.pdf
Joe (Guest)
LOL. Reduction in all motor vehicle acidents in 1950 to 1962 does not apply to today. Due to the mass majority of vehicles on the road. Please research further prior to responding.
Thanks

This comment shows just how little research you have done!! The facts are that today's accident count is lower than 1952! That number and rate! just vist the website! You'll see that American streets are safer today, in part by raising the speed limits to the 80-85 percentile. Considering the sheer volume increase in vehicles one would expect it to be at least the same rate and you obviously believe it is higher. This is not the case! AT ALL. we have about 6,000,000 accidents fender benders included which is the same number for 1960!
How? Why? two major factors we stopped putting in artificially low speed limits and are currently raisin speed limits throughput the country and (no not abs) but tire technology. ABS reduces the severity of some accidents but in general ABS braking systems require a longer time to stop on dry pavement. I gave you a website from the highway division of the NTSB. Read it.

I think you are just trying to get the last "word" in...
You still did not answer my question if you agree or disagree if people should obey the 25 mph speed limit.
Please reply on THAT

I'll go slow since you don't seem to understand
Step 1.
Here's what you wrote..
"Reduction in all motor vehicle acidents in 1950 to 1962 does not apply to today. Due to the mass majority of vehicles on the road. Please research further prior to responding. Thanks"
Step 2.
Heres the link I sent you..
Yes it does apply today..
From Ntsha.gov
"An Analysis of the Significant Decline in Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2008, In 2008 there were 37,261 people killed in motor vehicle crashes, the lowest number since 1961. With a further large drop in fatalities projected for 2009, this would mean motor vehicle traffic crash fatalities will have reached a level not seen since the early 1950s. The purpose of this report is to examine the current decline in fatalities, not just in relation to recent trends, but also in relation to any long-term changes that may be occurring.
"
Step 3.
The website I gave you has a LOT of articles stating how artifically low speed limits cause more accidents 2-9% increase.
Step 4.
You want to know if I support people driving 25 in an artifically low speed limt
Step 5.
NO! I support lower accident rates 2-9%!!
Step 6.
Do you support the 2-9% higher probability of an accident in that area because the speed limit is not at the 85 percentile?
Step 7
Read the research of people much more knowledgeable than you and I. The people with the data instead of just "FEELING" like it should be lower or as is when research shows that "feeling" is more likely to kill someone than rasing the speed limit!

Wow.... Apparently you NEVER read above.
What I care about is right NOW. Right NOW the speed limit is 25 mph. Where is this not clicking? For instance (you need an example) if you are speeding and are pulled over by a cop, and you tell the cop that the speed limit is useless.... will that prevent a ticket?
Your Logic is off

Wow I hit a nerve, When something is stated you are taking it to the extreme and leading it to something else said. Additionally, I never said anything about a 24/7 police officer. I will, if possible sponser a speed bump or two in my neighborhood... The speed limit right now (regardless of what you think or say that it is too low) it is still 25 mph PLEASE READ THAT, and whatever you say can not change what it is RIGHT NOW.
Please tell me you do not work in Pottstown. If you do, then I know why this city is so messed up.
