Description
The pothole fills with waterr when it rains and is growing and I believe it is going to cause rot on the wooden bridge and issues in the winter for plowing. There is another pothole as you turn from 133 to the bridge but do not have a photo

Susan, this is a private road, and on the 133 side of the bridge is still private. As you can see in the attached photo - the yellow line indicates a private way and the red indicates state highway.
Unfortunately, the City cannot assist, the issue is beyond minor repair allowed by the City of Gloucester's Code of Ordinances and MA General Law. The responsibility lies on the abutters for the repair.
The City offers a paving program for private ways where the abutters petition the City to manage a resurfacing project at the cost of the abutters. Your Ward Councilor can guide you through the steps.
The bridge falls under the purview of DOT and MBTA and both have determined that the bridge is sound.
