People with safety issues you can not just post and hope the city see it.you must call. You can then post to alert others and to have a record it was called in. This was first posted on July 26. 2019 and it has not yet been acknowledged by the city.

Sometimes the city does respond sometimes they don't. When it is a safety issue it must be called in. You can then post to alert others and to have a record it was called in. How would you like it if you or someone in your family was injured because of this?
You posted that the point of this website is to notify the city. If your house was on fire how would you like it if someone just posted it here so the city can be notified?
That's a ridiculousness comparison. Drain issues is literally one of the sub-groups listed by the city. This is the proper way to notify the city of the issue. If they had a sub-group called "Fire", I'm sure it would be monitored 24/7 to send the fire department to those type of calls.
If you want to call the city to add emphasis, you are welcome to do that, but don't give other people jobs to do. This is the proper procedure.
Abe
It is not the proper procedure when it is a safety issue. Again how would you like it if you or someone in your family was injured because of this? Bottom line it has been over a week and the city has yet to acknowledge this.
Abe
See Click Fix has a number of sub groups under the topic Fire, check it out.
Do you really consider it a job to pickup the phone to correct a problem that may cause an injury? You can post to the cows come home but if the city does not see ii how will it be corrected?.
This isn't an emergency safety issue. It's something that needs to be taken care of in a timely matter. This website is sufficient. Like I said in the previous post, if you think it requires additional time and effort, you are welcome to spend all day on the phone with the city. Don't give other people jobs. The original poster has no additional responsibility than any other resident, you included. The poster did their civic duty, you can go above and beyond. Personally, I don't think a call will cause the city to respond to the issue any quicker than this post, but you do you.
Are you serious? Did you just look at drop down menu and see the word fire and think it proves your point? It does just the opposite! Those topics are all safety issues that need to be taken care of ASAP, but aren't emergencies! Proving that this site is for safety issues, but not 911 calls!!
The grate on this drain is cracked.
It presents a fall and injury hazard

If a foot got stuck in there, that could be a serious injury.
If you broke your ankle because of this you might consider this a safety issue.
People when it is a safety issue it must be called in. You can then post to alert others and to have a record it was called in, when in doubt call 203 946-6316
This too is a safety issue. Ask the person who just broke an ankle and has to wear a cast for a month.
Abe, where is the city's acknowledgement about this issue?
Abe
Did you ever see this when the topic Traffic Signal is chosen
If there is a problem with a Traffic Signal, please call the Transportation, Traffic and Parking Department directly at (203) 946-8075 between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday or call the New Haven Police Department after hours or on weekends at (203) 946-6316.
If you think this issue if the equivalent of a fire you should call 911. But you won't, b/c it's not. It's a serious issue that needs to be fixed but isn't a "lights and sirens emergency". This issue is exactly like the topics under "Fire" on this site "Fire Hazard", "Fire Safety Concern", are those not serious issues? How would you feel if you posted a fire hazard on this site and then someone died in a fire???
Either, this site is sufficient to notify the city of these types of hazards, or it's not. If it wasn't, they wouldn't list these exact topics!!!
Obviously, you aren't comfortable with the city's response time to these serious issues, so you are welcome to spend all day making phone calls. That doesn't change the intent of the city that set up this site for these exact issues.
Abe, also have you ever seen this when Signs is chosen?
If there is a problem with a Stop Sign, a One-Way Sign or a Do Not Enter Sign, please call the Transportation, Traffic and Parking Department directly at (203) 946-8075 between 9 am and 5 pm, M -F or call the New Haven Police Department after hours or on weekends at (203) 946-6316, before posting the issue in See Click Fix. After doing so, please indicate that you've called within your See Click Fix post, so other members of the public know this has been called in. Thank you.
Hmmm, It's almost as if the city is telling you in those situations that the site isn't sufficient. However, when you select "Fire Hazard" or "Drain Issue" the city is telling you it is sufficient!.
I'm done and won't respond further. Have a great day!

It has been over a week and the city has yet to acknowledge this how could anyone be comfortable with the city's response time? Safety issues must be called in.
