Each morning before dawn, weekdays & weekends, the attendants at the Exxon & Liberty gas stations get out their leaf blowers. They use them for as much as an hour at a time, violating county noise ordinances for that time of day and blowing trash into our neighborhood streets.

Having dealt with noise ordinance issues at my condo, I can tell you that you will need to contact the County Code Enforcement Office at 703 228 3232. You will need specific times to that if they do send staff with a decibel reader, they're present at the right time. Otherwise you will need to band together with a significant number of your neighbors, and have a paper trail of calls the the police.

I agree that they should cease making noise early and blowing trash off of their property.

Thank you for posting. Please contact Community Code Enforcement Services at (703) 228-3232. Staff involved with this investigation will need contact information from neighbors in order to thoroughly document this case.

The best avenue to address this issue is a direct phone call to the Arlington County Code Enforcement line at 703-228-3232 where a member of the staff will intake the complaint and advise on the complaint.

I contacted Arlington Code Enforcement. The woman there told me that they don't work that early in the morning, and I should call the police instead.

That is correct, an officer needs to witness the violation taking place. A call should be placed to the Arlington County Police Department at 703-558-2222 at a time when the violation is occuring.

I still periodically have to call the police because of noise violations; then they'll follow the law, but eventually they start up again way too early--and I call again. It's an ongoing cycle because I guess the county doesn't intend to enforce the ordinance. As for the litter--well, no one seems to care that these two businesses basically dispose of their litter/trash in our neighborhood streets.
