These are: (1) surface preservation (sealing the road surface to keep the good roads good), (2) major rehabilitation – typically removing the top 2 inches of asphalt (milling) and replacing with new asphalt (overlay), (3) reconstruction of the street and (4) spot gap measures such as pot hole patching. Each year the city develops a maintenance program that incorporates the pavement condition of each road along with ongoing maintenance needs to determine which roads and what treatment options should be used based on available funding. We are currently developing the list for our 2020 program.
