Remove the slip lane that will encourage fast right turns from 139 onto South bound Baldwin Ave. Program the signals so that the walk signal comes on automatically.

Yes the things Ollie suggested are also very important.

I made some complaints to NJDOT about this/ the lack of pedestrian signals on the west side now, but also, they have this very clearly on their website: "NJDOT cannot enter a town and make changes in their jurisdiction without the town's consent. Should the issue fall under NJDOT's jurisdiction, the local officials will forward a direct request to the appropriate NJDOT staff for an investigation on behalf of the municipality."

Hi Jennifer C -- can you please comment on what Jersey City will do to help this situation?

Now with construction starting and fencing taking up a chunk of sidewalk on the SE side of Baldwin after crossing Rt. 139 heading south, getting the pedestrian signal back on the west side is even more logical/important. And with regards to that turn lane Ollie mentions above- yeah, I was almost flattened today when crossing Baldwin with the pedestrian signal by a car just flying around that that corner in their nice turn lane. The 139 intersections are just horrible now.

This issue is for the NJ DOT - While yes, it states that they cannot enter a town without working with that town, we cannot also get them to modify the roadway. They propose the modification and then approach the City/Town/County to discuss. However, we cannot force them to the table. Due to limited staffing, our priority remains on the streets and intersections that we have direct control over and working on applying for and receiving grants in order to pay for these safety initiatives.
