Description
The intersection at Highway 160 and Hamilton Road is a very outdated and now dangerous intersection. When I moved into my home 11 years ago, it was a very rural part of Mecklenburg County. In the last 5 years,we've been annexed into the City of Charlotte, 6 new neighborhoods have been built, Palisades developed, Rivergate Shopping Center developed, a new CMC hospital built and a new elementary school added. Not to mention it's a main artery into Tega Cay and Fort Mill SC. I drive miles out of my way to get home to avoid this intersection. It's horrible. The other evening, 3 people were seriously injured in an accident at this intersection. The State of NC has no intention of correcting this issue for several years. Also, the intersection is crooked. Sitting at the intersection facing east, you face head on with the turn left lane of traffic coming west. There needs to be turn lanes added on HWY 160, a turn lane added to Hamilton Rd for traffic headed east, and turn arrow lights added.
