Post No Truck signs throughout the neighborhood and let the business owners know that the neighborhood is not made for testing cars and for their trucks to freely roam...there are no sidewalks and poor drainage in the winter so folks walk in the middle of the street competing with trucks and up to 600 cars down a street during 4-6 p.m. peak periods.

Nothing has been addressed as to the heavy flow of commute and truck TRAFFIC eventhough city of santa cruz planning, vice-mayor and councilmemer has been notified that we BOUGHT signs to be installed and traffice 'engineer' said he has to study implications of a sign on the two main arteries leading INTO the neighborhood; ex: Morrissey blvd @ Melrose and Fairmount Ave.

Just heard from Planning Dept. City of Santa Cruz. They are using "1968 ordinance" ruling for traffic calming. Please vote to keep this cut through traffic OPEN for consideration for SIGNS and ENFORCEMENT.

Think of all that has changed since 1968....The freeway was hiddened but backs up at Morrisseey because they didn't have the funds the extra lane to Soquel next exit...So guess what?....Everyone pours off the freeways and "commutes" through our Eastside Morrissey neighborhood....to cut over to Capitola Road or freeway frontage road or the backroad ways.

And Trucks...well, they see Soquel (speed limit 35 mph) and say, it is simply "faster" to go through the neighborhood...watch those trucks fly over speed bumps....becoming a new neighborhood sport. I have not worked since June 2009...I sit in my house studying Accounting and watch the trucks barrel by....I live on Trevethan.

I've heard that the traffic in Santa Cruz is three times the level of a town of its size...Does the 1968 ordinance take into account all the unique factors of Santa Cruz...and living here in 2010? My humble guess...I doubt it.

So please listen to East Morrissey neighbors...some very persistent....because they know what the issues are and deal with it every hour...these are mostly families, middle-class or retired folks..all very sharp folks...We persistent.

NORTH BAY FORD CONSTANTLY USES MELROSE AVE AS A 'CUT THROUGH' FROM MORRISSEY BLVD TO NORTH BAY FORD ON SOQUEL AVE. THE OWNER, DRIVERS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED MANY TIMES AND HAVE SAID THAT THEY WOULD USE THE 'TRUCK ROUTE' AND NOT THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THERE IS NO SIGNAGE CURRENTLY ON MORRISSEY BLVD. FOR NO TRUCKS. CITY PLANNING AND CITY COUNCIL HAVE BEEN ASKED REPEADEDLY FOR A NO TRUCK SIGN AT MORRISSEY AND MELROSE AVE.

Due to the 600 vehicles which have been recorded cutting through eastmorrissey neighborhood FROM Morrissey Blvd TO Soquel Avenue it is dangerous to walk in the neighborhood and to cross the street to the deFranks park on Fairmount. There is NO CROSSWALK no notice posted regarding the park speed bumps NOT one STOP sign from Morrissey to Trevathan Ave. City Planning has been repeadedly asked for signs, crosswalks for over 10 years.
