Shoulder maintenance has been done on Wagner Rd multiple times in multiple areas over the last 6 months and is an ongoing maintenance activity. Boom mowing of primary roads in Scio Township was completed on 4/22/2019. The boom mower will be back to this area at its earliest convenience when time, personnel, and equipment allow.

The problem areas are where vegetation is coming through the new fence put in on the north side of the road between I-94 and M-14, and also at ground level where the bridge sidewalks join the shoulder.
Finally the road shoulder needs to be filled in with more gravel or paved. I will send pictures.
Cyclists coming from Dexter Rd. use Wagner to get south. Crossing at Zeeb is better but out of the way.

Shoulder work and brush removal were completed last week.

There are still brushy weeds and now broken glass on the Wagner Rd.shoulder between the M-14 bridge and Jackson Rd.
What is the correct grade for a road shoulder? I would think the sand and gravel should start level with the asphalt so there is not a 2"drop from the road bed. It is hazardous for cyclists.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Washtenaw County Road Commission staff investigated and resolved the problem. The crew was directed by me to replace shoulder material, and hand trim associated brush in the area after the initial issue was opened. The shoulders are within agency specifications. We are not permitted to spray vegetation as an agency, so the brush was hand-trimmed to within acceptable standards. This issue is considered to be addressed and will be closed permanently.
