There are at least 5 homes under construction that do not have silt fencing. All being built by Southern Home Builders

Thanks for getting the Silt fences installed / maintained to standards. But all proper erosion controls have not been put in place. I see no gravel protection and proper ridge in place to stop silt, dirt debris from running into the road when their is a storm where there is an entry to the lot, and not silt fence in place. I'm not sure if these issues should be closed yet.

All the sediment, dirt, debris run off continue to run into the storm water system, and causes build up in our swales palms and ditches.

Thank you for your continued concern. The Town of Leland works very hard to ensure that all code violations are taken care of in an appropriate time frame, and consistent with Town Ordinance. I reached out to the builder to correct the silt fencing situation, and they have now been brought into compliance. Unfortunately, sediment and erosion control falls almost completely under the jurisdiction of the State of North Carolina, and the Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources (DEMLR).
