Description

We have a one lane bridge that crosses the Big Sandy at Betsy Layne (Justell). Recently the weight limit and height have been lowered because the pillars underneath are crumbling. The bridge is in such bad condition a school bus or fire truck would not be allowed to cross it. So what are the citizens suppose to do in case of a fire and children pickup when school starts. Garbage trucks can't even cross the bridge.
A couple of years ago over a million dollars was put into the bridge just to sand down the rust and paint it. What a waste of money.
We really need a new two lane bridge. Putting more money into the bridge is a waste. I think its way pass due. The citizens of Justell have tolerated it to long.
The pillars are concrete and are underneath water. I can only imagine what they look like under the water. I called and asked when was the last time they done a underwater inspection, and all I was told were that they were done periodically.
Some of the residents that have purchased mobile homes over the years have had to settle for smaller and shorter ones because of the width of the bridge.

I really think this is worth looking into and very news worthy.
Please take the time to check it out.
