Thank you for your A2 Fix It request, #365826. Your request is important to us and will be prioritized and addressed based on the overall availability of city resources. Please note: If the nature of your request is urgent, such as water emergencies, please check http://www.a2gov.org/a2fixit for phone numbers to contact us. A2 Fix It is for non-urgent, non-emergency issues and is monitored during weekday business hours only. Your patience is appreciated.
We, too, have observed the paint peeling off the railing elements of the bridges.
Please know that the underlying steel railings are hot-dip galvanized steel and will not rust. Also, the nuts and bolts that attach the railings to the concrete barrier are made of stainless steel; they will not rust either. Given the federal standards which governed the construction, there is not a warranty on the work. However, our plan is to re-paint the railing sections once enough of the paint has peeled off to warrant re-painting all the railing panels at one time at a later date. This is the most cost-effective manner in which to manage this situation.
Thank you for writing in and sharing your concern.
Your request has been acknowledged and/or addressed to the best of staff's ability. A more detailed description of action taken by staff, if available, is provided in the comments above. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
