There is a total traffic enforcement s***show going on in Alameda today. This is specifically for the east end but I am sure these problems are widespread across every neighborhood in Alameda.
Consistently there is a load of traffic laws being broken out here on a daily basis. We have a serious problem with speeders, red light and stop sign runners, people who refuse to yield to pedestrians, people who block sidewalks and driveways with their vehicles etc due to APD's total refusal to enforce traffic laws in our neighborhood.
Today, during my 10 minute walk through this neighborhood on my way to work from my home, I encountered an Audi completely blocking the sidewalk at Broadway and Central. I attempted to report it to APD dispatch but the dispatcher was being rude and difficult so I just hung up.
Then as I was walking down the street I saw countless vehicles speeding and running stop signs between Broadway and Park at the various intersections down Central.
Then as I was walking on Park, I was standing on the corner of I believe Santa Clara and Park and my light turned green. I began crossing and as I was crossing, some bicyclist literally came like 2 centimeters from my face as he blew right past me and threw the red light. If I had stepped forward a split second earlier, he would have clipped me, probably knocked me over and possibly broke some of my bones/killed me while I had the right of way to cross the street.
Then as I was standing at the bus stop I saw the audi I tried to report earlier driving into the gas station, knowing full well that they were not cited at all for blocking the sidewalk earlier due to APD's total refusal to enforce the law in our neighborhood.
This area is turning into a lawless motorpocalypse of vehicles making up their own rules and doing whatever they want. As I was going to work down Buena Vista I saw a neverending row of cars running stop signs all down Buena Vista all the way to Sherman. It's unbelievable. Not a cop in sight. Blight and crime everywhere.
Clean up alameda now. Sick and tired of this c.r.@.p

Just to add, the red-painted curb where the 19 bus stop in front of the gas station is also routinely blocked by self-entitled drivers who think they somehow have a right to park there, completely blocking the bus stop and preventing buses from being able to stop and pick up passengers. I have seen this probably around 100 times this past year.
The gas station over here is also a hotbed of crime and blight activity. We have lots of Oakland gan.g members coming here with their loud rap music and stolen cars s***ing up the neighborhood.
There is some kind of blighted homeless house just down the street where there is routinely a plethora of i.l.l.e.g.a.l dumping, stolen property processing (mostly in the form of stolen shopping carts and bicycles stolen out of the backyards of random Alamedans) that transients probably use as some kind of stolen property marketplace or something.
The dingbat across the street seems to be housing a bunch of meth heads and pros.t1tutes.
Area is a total zoo.

Matter of fact I'd add that Oakland city government is actually ahead of Alameda in some ways. For example when I contacted Greg Minor in Oakland Nuisance Abatement he was actually helpful. I get no help from APD, no equivalent of Oakland's Nuisance Abatement Dept. for Alameda so if you have to deal with a nuisance here, you're completely on your own.
Apparently county laws don't mean anything to APD. They claim that county law only applies to unincorporated parts of Alameda. I find that weird since Alameda is the county seat.
They also won't enforce the city's municipal code 99% of the time. Here in Alameda I have some neighbors in a building next door to me who harass me pretty much every day with loud noise, loud rap and mariachi music, barking dogs, constant parties and yelling, they use our driveway, they have their on-site laborer blow leaves into our driveway and steal our compost bins, etc and APD won't do anything about it.
In contrast, when I lived in Oakland and my neighbors decided to throw a loud party on a Wednesday night at like 3 AM, I called OPD and they showed up within 15 minutes to shut it down. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they handled the situation. The neighbors thought twice before doing anything like that again.
Sadly Oakland is just so badly overrun with crime and blight that OPD can't stop it all even if they all wanted to. You can listen to them struggling on the police scanner, especially during the sideshows. Alameda, on the other hand, is a tiny town in comparison with a population of only 79,000, most of whom are relatively law abiding compared to their counterparts in Oakland, but our police force and city government is such a swamp of quasi-progressive B.S. that now even parts of Alameda are basically turning into Oakland 2.0
Out here APD responds anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 hours, and by "respond" i mean half the time they roll by in a cruiser and do nothing, the other half of the time they'll walk by, maybe walk into the complex and, if you're really lucky, they might even have a friendly chat with the neighbors. That's it. They'll never, ever cite them. never. so they just keep on doing it. every day, every night.
Meanwhile homeless encampments and blight rapidly spread across alameda. Climbing property crime, i.l.l.e.g.a.l. dumping, carjackings, package theft, traffic chaos with lots of unruly .t.h.u.g.s pouring into the island from Oakland wreaking even more havoc, endangering people, robbing and k.i.l.1.i.n.g people, and APD doesn't do jack about it.
Unfortunately Alameda will be indistinguishable from west and deep east oakland within a decade or two if this trend continues. The police chief doesnt care since he makes 300k a year in salary and benefits and he lives in a cushy house in danville. mayor is a crook. city council only care about themselves. a den of vipers and thieves
