Snell Isle BLVD NE and Appian was also flooded today. This is the third time in three weeks this corner has flooded severely. Please see the closed incident #6396153 of August 1. Today was worse than August 1. Today water made it completely up the driveway and under the brand new hurricane garage doors. Case #6396153 was Closed but no explanation was provided as to why. “Work was completed” was all that was mentioned. It appears this means the water went away because clearly today the same problem occurred with even less rain than on August 1.
Something dramatically has changed since Hurricane Irma almost 2 years ago. The City needs to more openly communicate what is being done than just closing a case with minimum explanation. Homeowners should receive feedback as to what has changed, what work is being done short term to reduce the flooding risk to at least the 2017 Irma level, and what is needed long term to manage the flood waters. For all we know the City is taking actions, but without communication events like today make it appear as nothing is being done to correct this newly created problem.
Maybe an in person meeting with the Mayor is needed to get real feedback and corrective action? In the meantime we should consider sandbagging the rest of the summer as these rains are nothing compared to TS or Hurricane rains.
