Dear TDL - admittedly, it looks pretty bad; however, has it occurred to you that a great portion of the services and programs SOSNA provides is work done by volunteers? Further, their office is rented, and volunteers have done their best to maintain the exterior. Please stop by SOSNA's offices and find out how YOU can help - like me and your neighbors. (PS - I've personally weeded outside the SOSNA office, along with other block cleanups but haven’t been able to help this year due to other responsibilities).
what makes a neighborhood great is when all of us participate in doing everything we can do to clean up, not only in front of our houses, but in front of others who may or may not be able to do so. Neighbors in my hood seem to think they can throw their chicken bones and pineapple soda bottles on they street as soon as they're finished with them. Should I just let the garbage rot on the sidewalk, or should I simply go out, pick it up, throw it in my garbage and make the area look better. I don't like to do this, I don't want to do this, but there are some who will in order to make the street look, as my old granny would say, tidy.
Recently, 10 2014, Scioli Turco completed work on two new homes at 19th and Webster. As a thank you to our neighbors, we had a four man crew clean from Christian to Catharine both sides and mulched all tree wells. It looks pretty nice and we are waiting for two new owners to move in soon!
