This is another example of what happens when we build walls along the roadway. Homes Fences should not extend beyond the home streetside. It use to be the most valuable property on the block was the corner lot. And the inviting can clean feel of a community evolved around landscapes. I suppose our in-town traffic as gotten away from us and we forgot the importance of sidewalks and pleasing green spaces to get around a community or neighborhood. With the needed changes we must realize that just letting weeds grow in a city, is not the answer, to the environmental problems. Well designed landscapes across the community are what provide green and blue spaces that are required for one's mind to be healthy. The City of Gainesville must look forward at ordinances that bring about green and beautiful city. Mulch filled yards, stone filled yards and the likes are not the solutions to stormwater runoff, or making a residential area appealing to everyone. Communities have changed. we do not have grazing animals so we must look at landscape alternatives. An overgrown yard is not going to help anything it just fosters rodents, trash, and snakes. We do however need flowering plants and vegetables for food. Look to a landscape architect to be on the team pointing the community in the right direction.
