We had a homeless man digging in my neighbors front yard and stealing plants and attempting to break into his car. Police were called, multiple times. He did this for AN HOUR!!!! 1.5 HOURS LATER, AN OFFICER DROVE BY but didn't stop. Not a good example of serve and protect.

hey if you think thats bad we've had a whole group of transients trespassing on our property and stealing from it every week for the past year and a half straight. it took me over a thousand calls to the police department, a thousand e-mails to the police chief, mayor's office, city manager's office, city councilmembers, even got they involved and a year and a half straight of neverending complaints to finally get them to cite one of the thiefs and then guess what? I got an e-mail from the police chief Paul Rolleri telling me he was going to personally pay off whatever fines are imposed on the thief because he didn't see anything wrong with what they were doing. He thinks this stuff is A-OK and that they have every right to trespass and steal from our properties. That's your chief, your tax dollars at work folks. I'm not even slightly kidding by the way. I really wish I was just making this up. It's incredible.
The chief is probably instructing his officers not to do anything to these people. He thinks they're just cuddly care bears who aren't hurting anyone. He thinks these are victimless crimes and that we should feel bad for the thieves. Im not kidding at all. I can even show you the e-mail I got from him if you want.
P.S. even though that one thief was cited, their associates continue returning to our property and stealing from it each week. I had to chase two of them off in the past week. APD won't do anything to them because of the corrupt chief actively impeding law enforcement efforts, actively imposing his cancerous influence on his subordinates and forcing them to be corrupt and worthless just like him, and even going out of his way to spend some of his taxpayer-subsidized $350,000 annual salary to personally bail these thieves out of their fines and pay their citations for them.
I am not even slightly making this up. This is the swamp that is the Alameda city government.
Welcome to the jungle.
