Description
Two drivers blatantly ran the red light heading south, while the pedestrian light was on. Yeah, yeah, state property, state jurisdiction. Our city though. Come on, Cambridge. Through the lack of enforcement we are empowering the drivers to keep doing this everywhere. I don't know what the solution is, but I know it's not an easy one.
By the way, I'm not anti-cars, 90% of the time I'm a driver myself but this red-light-running stuff seems to be getting worse. This road is even getting onto social media/reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/cqu5kj/fresh_pond_pkwy_cambridge_lets_run_a_redlight/ (video has been deleted but illustrates my point)

Here's the video linked above - the original poster on Reddit deleted it and then re-posted the same one again after trimming it.

Red light and speed cameras are not allowed by law in our state because you are supposed to be able to face your accuser - not so in case of a camera. But then some jurisdictions in other states start mucking with the yellow light timing so it's a double-edged sword. The state would make a loooot of money though if they put up some cameras or at least ticketed people for blocking the box.
Also, the fines are ridiculously low. HOV lane violation on 93 is $50. In California it's $400+ (for running reds as well) and quite well advertised by signs. Makes one think twice.
But this state is too car/driver friendly.
