This issue won't truly be "addressed" until the encampment is entirely removed! These campers have trashed the street-level lighting fixtures, have exopropriated sidewalk space, and have made the Broadway undercrossing an intimidating obstacle course for pedestrians (and tourists!) trying to get from Downtown to Jack London.
This is not an unavoidable consequence of "homelessness." These "unhoused residents" have shown no consideration for their Oakland neighbors. What goes around comes around: they've earned our reciprocal contempt!
