I understand that this issue is only temporary due to construction, but couldn't the timing on this light change until construction is complete? Also, these lights are on sensors so the light would not stay green if there were no cars headed north so I don't see any downside with making the maximum green light duration longer. If I am mistaken, please explain. Thank you!

This is especially bad during the morning commute (7:00-9:00am). If someone could come watch during that time, he/she would be able to see how bad the backup is and how those at the end of the line have to wait for 2-3 cycles before they are able to progress through the intersection. Thank you.

Travelers are experiencing longer than normal wait times as you described. We have observed the most significant impacts between 7:45 am and 8:45 am.

The City recently reviewed modifying the timing of the traffic signals with the City’s traffic signal and street lighting contractor. Signal timing adjustment was not recommended due to the cumulative impacts at other traffic signals. For example, this traffic signal is coordinated in the morning and afternoon commute hours. Changing the signal timing would break its coordination. Based on the recommendation, the traffic signal timing will not be modified.

However, to reduce dwell times, and improve the flow of traffic through the intersection of Edgewater and Beach Park Blvd, the City intends to the modify the temporary traffic control at the intersection during the week of September 9, 2019. "Coordination" with other signals? Which? The closest is E.Hillsdale, a mile away!
Check evening as well- Recently Fri 8/23 ~6p evening, I recorded dashcam video of such a backup from the light PAST the end of the shopping center, 900' (Beach Pk to Port Royal). I do not know if all cars got thru one cycle or not. Ridiculous. Extend the light cycle. The same number of cars get to Hillsdale, eventually.

NB traffic on Edgewater got only about 45seconds of green light (!!),
then signal changed. You can see long 900' line of cars still waiting to go NB as I turn SB on Edgewater, from Beach Park until Port Royal

I realize a longer NB light cycle might mean SB traffic waiting to turn left might pile up in the turn lane, especially in evenings, but perhaps NB can go twice and make Beach Park traffic wait longer..?

The construction traffic control has been modified to allow both northbound Edgewater lanes to get through the intersection. Your cooperation during this construction period is greatly appreciated. This issue is now closed.
