I'd like to know any information about intentions to deal with the old, overgrown and no longer used CSX railroad tracks that cross Oakland Mills road. My neighbor was in touch with the County's Dept of Public Works Bureau of Highways/Traffic Works back in 2014 about this issue and was told at that time the Bureau was in the process of confirming with CSX that the tracks can be abandoned and securing the proper paperwork to remove the railroad easement from the roadway so that the tracks rails can be removed. She has heard nothing since despite following up in 2017. These tracks are primarily an issue because buses are required to stop at RR tracks, and they can also be hard on the snow plows in the winter. The stopping in the middle of the road causes congestion and also can cause accidents for those folks not expecting a large vehicle to stop in the middle of the road for an unused railroad. I understand it's not likely an easy project, but any update would be appreciated. Thanks!
