Description

There are several problems with the stretch of Lochaven Rd between Willow and Odessa, increasing the speed limit to 45mph from 35 has made it even more dangerous. First, pedestrians routinely cross the road here because sidewalks only exist on the west side of Lochaven. Second, there is a school bus stop for West Bloomfield schools at the entrance of Lochlin Pines (Red Cedar Rd). Driver's on Lochaven are not required to stop for the bus and whiz by (going 45+ before, so I'm sure this coming school year they will be going 55+). Some kids living in Chestnut Woods sub are assigned to that bus stop and have to cross Lochaven (pitch black at 6:30 a.m.). There are no crossing gaurds & though the police sit in this area regularly, they are rarely there during bus times. Third, depending on time of day & how badly the brush is overgrown & therefore obstructing ones view by the bike path between Odessa & Greer, it is at times nearly impossible to pull out onto Lochaven from either of those 2 streets.

All of these things are a tragedy in the making. Please do something about this. Reduce the speed back to 35, install a traffic light at Lochaven & Greer, or both. Regularly cutting back the brush would help too.
