Description
There are some 25 MPH signs newly-posted on California Drive north of the new round-about, claiming this speed limit is "Radar Enforced."
This is out of compliance with the City's speed limit for that roadway, from Oak Grove south to the new round-about.
The City's web site shows the actual speed limit from "Murchison to Burlingame Avenue" is 35 MPH.
Please remove these signs, which are unenforceable.

Aside from the appropriate speed limit heading into the round-about, part of the discussion is that this signage was posted without going through proper channels. Heading into the round about slowing traffic is a good idea. Coming out of the round-about, though (northbound on California Drive), 25 seems inappropriate.
The change, however, should be done with the approval of the City Council and this, then, should be noted in the City codes.

How many tickets has BPD issued? I seem to be the only one driving 25. 3X already been in close calls w/ drivers who were about to rear-end me. Once coming from the signal at Oak Grove. Another time someone apparently slammed their brakes so hard because they didn’t see me going 25 going north just past the roundabout. They then have the nerve to rev it up, honk and pass me.
The city stands to make a fortune from ticketing drivers who don’t drive the new 25.
Please cite these violators, before they hurt someone.

Thank you for the information you have provided. The municipal code currently pertains to the previous configuration of California Drive. With the introduction of the new roundabout, conditions changed and the statutory speed limit of 25 mph for the business district was applied. Staff will be presenting appropriate municipal code updates to City Council.
