Yes - I noticed this last week during the city sponsored concert in the park at Hunter Park. I was dismayed to see trash strewn about and even crossed the street with my young son so we wouldn't have to walk by it.

The problem has gotten worse over the last couple of days. The trash is spreading withing the City right of way between the sidewalk and the road. Very unsightly!

Just an update that the trash is still there and continues to spread. It's been two weeks since code compliance was notified (and at least three weeks that the trash has been there). What is the update on clean up/removal?

I will report this to Code Compliance today.

Code Compliance stated this has been written up as a violation and will be checked this week. If not cleaned up the City will have our contractor clean-up the site.

Thanks Carol for the update. How can we speed this process up in the future? It was passed along to code compliance on 7/29 and as Sarah pointed out, the neighborhood has had to live with trash along the right of way for three weeks now. Seems like a long time to get a violation issued and have the site cleaned up. The snow/ice removal ordinance was written to get violations and clean up accomplished within just a few days.

This is the process: After a compliant is made an officer is sent to check it out. That can take a day or two depending on how much work they have assigned. After this checked out a letter is sent to the property owner of record. They are given by the ordinance seven days to clean-up the trash. After the seven days is done a Code Officer is sent back out to check to see whether it is clean-up or not. If not than the Code Officer turns this over to the City's contractor and they clean it up and the property owner is billed for the clean-up. If you fill this out online you can leave your email address and we have been told they will email you back about the compliant.

Thanks Carol for sharing the process. Would you support moving the timeline forward? Seems like 7 days is an awful lot of time for somebody to get out there to clean up their own property. 3 days seems a lot more reasonable for a violation of this nature. Even that seems generous. Where's the pride in one's own property? The City moved up the timeline on snow/ice removal...why not with trash?

It is something I will check into with Law.
