We are aware of the on-going complaints regarding homeless encampments and the Alameda Police Department is working closely with the City’s Community Development Department to address, understand, and act on issues involving homelessness in Alameda. Homeless, in itself, is not a crime, although we are aware of the community impacts a homeless encampment creates. The Alameda Police Department strictly adheres to legal requirements before displacing a homeless encampment and simultaneously provides community and County resources in an effort to achieve a functioning zero homeless population for Alameda. The City of Alameda’s Coalition Advancing Resources, Efforts, and Support (CARES) for Alameda’s homeless was initiated in early 2018 (formerly the Homeless Outreach Team) with the purpose of bringing together Alameda organizations with the combined goal of addressing homelessness. These groups include the Community Paramedics Program, Homeless Liaison Officer program, Community Development Department, community-based social service providers, faith-based coalitions, and the Alameda Housing Authority. Sound like what they are doing in Oakland trying to fix it with compassion and enabling. Whats needed it tough love and accountability and many going cold turkey.

There is also another encampment just 100 yards from it closer to the Day Care where there are many kids!!!

So do I call Alameda Police when they try to enter the day care?

Folks, this is not a new issue. Residents have been reporting this problem to the city for years and you all see what they do. They try to fake-close it and sweep it under the rug. The problems persist. They grow worse and they spread. This is in direct connection to the official city-sanctioned homeless encampment and toxic waste dump at marina village. Just take a look at my request from six months ago that they've been ignoring this entire time.

It just gets worse every day. Now it is spreading into the new park. I am not even surprised this is happening. Just disgusted. This is our tax dollars at work. Our city government is pure evil.

Also folks please be advised that SCF admins are actively censoring comments on this site for arbitrary reasons, and I have seen them censor people who were posting comments criticizing the city government for their gross negligence and mismanagement of public funds, failure to address outstanding issues, etc. There is some seriously sketchy stuff going on here and a lot of information is being withheld and buried deliberately and maliciously.

What will the market predictions rebound for homeless criminals? I say homeless criminals because MOST are breaking the law.. Who will fix these issue of those 5000+ homeless people roaming around eastbay? The closer you live in the city, the more impact. This seem surreal and denial, it’s similarly life, Alita Battle Angel, the movie. Rich people living on top, poor people living underground fighting, but realistic. Alameda is surrounded by Oakland. Everyday i use this app hoping i find a answer to solve my issue. Only Oakland area has most complication oppose South bay SJ, if you check this app. Why east bay.

the homeless nests and garbage piles in the photographs i took there have been there for at least half a year now. they're literally rotting and attracting carrion feeders, rodents and insects to the area. its also still crawling with homeless that are high on every .d.ru.g. you could imagine. city couldn't care less. no wonder the whole area is turning into a giant dump. they want to turn alameda into oakland #2

It is not illegal to be homeless. They cannot be asked to leave if they are on City space and there is no alternative housing or shelter that can be offered for them to move. This is the law, called Boise decision, which was upheld by the Supreme Court in January 2020. If they are occupying a space that is privately-owned, owner can ask them to move. If they refuse, call APD, as this is trespassing. If an illegal activity, emergency, or someone is in imminent danger, report to APD. Outreach is aware of this site and visits the encampment regularly to offer services and connect individuals to resources.
