An ongoing issue in multiple locations. Your alderperson (I think Anna Festa?) will respond but can’t force action, only urge it.
I don’t think “private property issue” is ideal for this posting though maybe LCI will notice and respond.
Main question is whose land is that? If it is State owned then the City can do little, though in truth they rarely act on these encampments even when they are in City parks. Frustrating, I agree. Most camp dwellers are at worst sneak thieves, but still, keep an eye on your kids.

@Tommy... I Do not think this is the place for your comment, So please Don't!
Apparently you don't have small children 6,7,8,9 years old standing on Ferry Street waiting for a school bus alone less than a block away! Because their parents have to work and are struggling to pay the bills and can't stand there with them, what about them and their Safety? No one will Stand up for our children?
But since you are commenting without knowledge of what actually happened, I will inform you that before the site was cleaned out there was a Visit from the Homeless Advocates and provided assistance to these Poor Souls, and advised them of the many Shelters and FREE Services the city has for them.

Hello Lina,
Most of my homeless friends are internet illiterate, so I advocate for them online. Wouldn't you do the same thing for your friends? Also, I'm not quite sure how the presence of my friends compromises the safety of children. None of my homeless friends and I have ever done anything to harm any children. Assuming homeless people are a threat to your children is no more valid than assuming non-homeless people are a threat.
Also, I do know what happened under the bridge. I've been on the receiving end of the friendly talks before. It has always been a pleasant experience. A group of very well mannered people arrive at an encampment and politely explain why the encampment can not remain. Then, we listen to the well rehearsed explanation of where homeless people can go to find shelter and programs for the homeless.
After that, we all say, "Goodbye" and walk away; however, as soon as we walk away, our goal is to find another place to make an encampment. The homeless shelter on Grand Avenue is a nightmare and people can only stay there for 90 days. After that, we are kicked out onto the streets again for the next 90 days. All homeless people who intend to stay at that shelter are trying to have their 90 days timed so that they enter the shelter sometime in December so that they can stay until sometime in March (coldest 90 days of the year).
