Motorists don't seem to treat the light at the tunnel as a traffic light, but rather as just a caution-type signal. Perhaps if the light was moved to Spackman Lane and Whitford Road, motorists would treat it as an actual traffic light. This would help pedestrians safely get through the tunnel as well as help cars exiting the train station lots. Vehicles would be able to safely pull out onto Whitford Road from Spackman Lane. At the very least have a traffic cop at the station during peak hours to ensure pedestrian safety and help with the traffic flow.

The tunnel on Whitford Rd at the Septa station is very dangerous. Cars go through the red light when pedestrians are walking through the tunnel to get to the parking lot on the south side. I agree cars view the light as a caution signal. Moving the light to Spackman and Whitford would help with the safety of the pedestrians and also help getting out of the Septa parking lot onto Whitford Rd. West Whiteland police should be more of a presence and start ticketing the indiviuals who run the red light. The increase in traffic on Whitford Rd going both north and south has increased to almost a solid line of cars between 5 and 6 pm during the work week.

I do not think moving the light will help. What about the other side of the tunnel? There's no place to "move" that traffic light to make walking through the tunnel any safer. The situation is inherently dangerous no matter where the lights are placed. Either a pedestrian tunnel should be built, like at Malvern, or concrete barrier walls should be placed in the road under tunnel, separating pedestrians from the cars. Yes, it will make the roadway one lane for traffic. There is another location like that - Boot Road under the train tracks going towards Quarry Lane, so it is feasible.

The lights sometimes stop traffic when there are NO pedestrians at all. These lights need to be checked and adjusted. Drivers can get frustrated stopping for nobody, although the safety of pedestrians is more important.

No sense in keeping this open as fixing this would involve a lot of money. I'm assuming SOMEONE in a position to review this actually was made aware of the problem.
