Description

I live next to residents of the Yale Crew. They have loud parties during the week and the weekend. The parties start low about 9 p.m. By midnight, I wake to loud synthesized music and yelling. Yale Police tell me it's a New Haven matter. New Haven Police have told me the students can get tickets. I try to work with the students by not complaining if the music is low. When the music is loud by midnight, it takes about an hour before the police arrive. By that time, the students have ended the party and there is no one for the police to speak to. How can they then get a ticket? The City adopted a noise ordinance that would control noise at a level not to exceed 55 decibels – roughly the sound of a clothes dryer or microwave between the hours of 7am and 10pm Monday through Saturday (or 9am through 9pm on Sundays) and a maximum 45 decibels from 10pm until 7am throughout the week. What do I have to do to make sure the Yale Crew adheres to this ordinance?
