Description
The traffic lights at Best Buy and at Macys have been screwed up since construction began in August. They have the same timing for DLB as they do for the shopping areas. Tens of thousands of cars go down DLB every day. I get stuck every morning at 8 and every afternoon at 5. In the morning, there is NOBODY coming in and out of the shops. In the afternoon, there are 4-5 cars who take advantage of the light, but then the light does not change for some time, backing up more cars on DLB. This has to be fixed or people will run the lights, causing accidents.

As part of the reconstruction of Donald J. Lynch Blvd. some of the loop detectors have been disabled (cut), so the presence of a stopped vehicle is not detected and not therefore it is not considered in phasing through the green-yellow-red phasing of the traffic signal. This was the case with left turns from Donald J. Lynch Blvd, westbound into the Mall.
The traffic signal lights at west entrance to the Mall (Macy's) and at Best Buy have been switched from vehicular activated (cars stop on loop detectors and are queued into the signal phases: green-yellow-red) to a pre-timed traffic signal. A green light at Best Buy/Olive Garden will last for 15 seconds and on Donald J. Lynch Blvd. for 75 seconds. At the west entrance to the Mall (Macy's) the green time is split equally with Donald J. Lynch Blvd. for 30 seconds. Upgraded traffic signals are planned as part of the reconstruction project for both intersections.
