There was a large mattress in the middle of the sidewalk earlier this morning - not sure if it's been removed. But there is still a lot of cardboard, large items, and litter in this space.

Is there an ETA? Or a different ticket open with active updates? The mattress is now being used as the "roof" for a dwelling in that space.

I called the police twice, last week and this week, to no affect. Division of Sanitation refuses to remove the garbage without police presence. In the meantime, the garbage keeps piling up. The police need to remove him but since they won't I don't know how this will get resolved. I would recommend everyone call the police or your local councilman to apply pressure.

I just called the police a 3rd time. Now they told me they will NOT remove him because they have no place to put him. It's a stalemate. DPW will not remove the garbage without police presence and police will not remove him from the site. I was also lambasted by the officer for suggesting to remove the homeless man's personal belongings, mattresses, garbage, etc.

Hm...Waseem's last reply here was that the case is being worked on. Waseem, can you provide some more info? Please keep this ticket open until the actual situation is resolved, or we are provided with an alternate open ticket to follow (if there are duplicates).

Post his badge # & name on here to inform the DPW that this officer refuses to do his job as they initially suggested

She is technically doing her job by dispatching an officer to the scene but they will not remove him. I'll reiterate that I got a moral lecture by the officer for suggesting to remove the homeless man and that the place be cleaned up.
