Description
This comment is for the entire asphalt walkway along the western side of Alexander St (along the golf course). If Princeton wants to increase cycling, widening the Alexander St path is low-hang fruit. Currently cyclists and peds cannot pass each other comfortably. There is space to add 2+ feet of width. This work could be added to the scope of work for the next repaving contract for the street. (Would also be reasonable to press the University to do this as a PILOT).
Only the most confident cyclists ride on Alexander St itself, because the sharrows and painted lanes provide no protection. The town should embrace that most will ride on this path and accommodate them. A wobblier rider is turned off by having to slow down uphill when approaching a ped.
