The peeling paint probably has not yet affected its usefulness, but it will eventually become too rusty, perhaps affecting it. Replacement (perhaps with a reconditioned hydrant) is also an option.

This is the water dept. water hydrant are inspected twice a year once by the fire dept and once by the water dept. we will put this hydrant on the warm weather list. also the rust and peeling has no effect with the operating of the hydrant just a paint issue thank you the water dept. Joe S
