Tom, here again is the procedure that is stated from this site when traffic signal is chosen:
If there is a problem with a Traffic Signal, please call the Transportation, Traffic and Parking Department directly at (203) 946-8075 between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday or call the New Haven Police Department after hours or on weekends at (203) 946-6316.
Because the city may not monitor this site more closely it does not make it right not to report a potential dangerous situation by phone.. Two sets of lights are installed for a reason and one being out is dangerous. How would you feel if someone you know was involved in an serious accident because of this?

The bottom line is this, a delay in getting a potential dangerous situation taken care of can be fatal. What you are doing is like leaving a message with someone who you know from past experiences did not act upon it in a timely matter in passing it along to the proper people. Again this is what See Click Fix position is: .If there is a problem with a Traffic Signal, please call the Transportation, Traffic and Parking Department directly at (203) 946-8075 between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday or call the New Haven Police Department after hours or on weekends at (203) 946-6316.

Whoa! I'm on Tom's side 100%.
I believe there might be a small misunderstanding between XYZ's advice and the mentality of some of the residents who report issues via this platform.
I've noticed there have been many issues reported on this platform that probably should have been "Called in" to someone of a certain level of authority, but we have to remember, the person who reported the issue on SeeClickFix did much more than the thousands of other people who also noticed the same issue, but took no action at all.
We can't or shouldn't bash the people who took the initiative to do something that absolutely nobody else decided to take. Doing so creates a deterrent to utilizing this fantastic tool.
It would be just as credible as saying, "Hey XYZ, every time you see something on this platform that requires immediate attention, you are guilty for not calling the appropriate authorities.
The advice to users that they should have called someone is admirable; however, we should try to keep it as friendly advice, rather than words of apparent reprimand. No?

How do you know that I do not call in situations posted on this site that require immediate attention?
You consider it bashing because I take the time to inform people to do something that may save a life, I thought you care about people.
I am sure you have seen post that are not acknowledged on site which is why you should, call then post to alert others and to have a report it was called in.
Read my posts again and tell me how they were not friendly

XYZ,
If I'm ever in a life threatening situation and if nobody helps me, then I'm ready to accept my fate.
Unbelievable? If so, that's because you are stuck in a monocultural way of life and you obviously believe it is your duty to tell others how they should live. Take a chill pill and please stop preventing others from using SeeClickFix. I've worked with so many people just like you. You're the person who prevents others from reporting more issues in the future.
Also, you're just scaring people away from using this platform. If you can't understand that by now, there is nothing anyone can tell you to make you think differently. I just pray you're not younger than I am.

Reread my posts and read yours and tell me who as you put it is bashing others.
Because I tell people the proper way to report something you accuse me of telling people how to live. If you do not believe calling in this situation was the proper way, please read the following from See Click Fix
" If there is a problem with a Traffic Signal, please call the Transportation, Traffic and Parking Department directly at (203) 946-8075 between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday or call the New Haven Police Department after hours or on weekends at (203) 946-6316".
If I am guilty of telling others how to live I guess so is See Click Fix.
This issue was posted on September 27 and not acknowledged until the 28 which is enough time for a serious accident to happen which is why it should have been called in.

Really? I'm the first person to notice that a traffic light is out at a busy intersection and you're wasting all your energy sanctimoniously telling me that I shouldn't use seeclickfix. No instead I should call the city. Because the transportation, traffic and parking department can't get it together to monitor this site then what happens is on their head. I'm not paid to do their job.
XYZ (Registered User)
Where did I post you should not use See Click Fix, below is my first post.?
Tom ,when traffic signal is chosen the following appears, why didn't you do this? After calling you can post to alert others and to have a record it was called in. " If there is a problem with a Traffic Signal, please call the Transportation, Traffic and Parking Department directly at (203) 946-8075 between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday or call the New Haven Police Department after hours or on weekends at (203) 946-6316".

You posted,
Because the transportation, traffic and parking department can't get it together to monitor this site then what happens is on their head. I'm not paid to do their job.
Now that you feel this way and See Click Fix informs you to call safety issues in, if you continue to report safety issues on this site you too are responsible if an accident happens. How will you feel if there is a serious accident and you know you could have prevented it?
Would you hire or recommend a plumber who you know does not do good work?
By the way the transpiration department and public works does monitor this site better than most city departments but a delay in getting a safety issue taken care of can be fatal and we can't expect them to monitor this site 24/7
