THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE HAD TO VIOLATE THE CITY OF ST. PETERSBURG OVER THIS VERY SAME ISSUE IN THE VERY SAME PLACE..

Once again We find the city is not maintaining its own property to the level it requires its citizens to maintain. Canal between the lake at Medowlawn park and 77th Ave has grass that does not comply with city codes that states grass may not be higher then 10". furthermore trees are allowed to grow in the canal blocking waterway that could lead to flooding..
Can someone at the Mayor's Action committee please tell me why city property is not required to be maintained to the same level as citizens of St. Petersburg? If my yard looked this bad you would be fining me $500 per day untill it was corrected. maybe the salaries of the Mayor's Action committee should be docked that amount until the issue is corrected.. It would only be fair.
Maybe Jeff the code enforcer should lose his job for not reporting this....

Still no Action.. if this was a resident they would be charged $500 per day yet the city violates it own codes time and time again.. Someone should be fired by now..

Calm down, everyone. They have it scheduled in a timely manner it will be taken care of. There are other stormwater problems through out the city. Patience is a virtue.

Well Carol. if this was your grass on your property you would be paying $500/day until it was corrected. I want the city to live by its own standards... Dont you?

You apparently saw my comment...what more can I say except the city has only so many pieces of equipment and cannot do everything at once. The same problem we had with the tide-ditch that runs along side of the park. It took quite a while but eventually it got done.

So If I own one lawnmower and 12 houses its ok to allow my grass to get tall? Stop stop making excuses for a city who would extort money from its citizens and go by a double standard. they would not be so kind to you. They would put a lean on your home in a minute. I know Ive been a victim of the city code. Now I make sure they live by their own standard...

FYI I would never ever report a neighbor to the city for any reason.. You dont do that to your neighbors as Ive seen on this.. shame on those people

Bill, That would be a great Idea. I wish I had the resources to do that. I have reported the city for non compliance with ADA rules in the past when they would not fix a sidewalk. the sidewalk was fixed the very next day. and after they said it didn't need fixing.

Its really a triplicate issue since the city has been acting like city codes do not apply to city property.
the last time was on 7-16-2019 @ $500/day thats quite a tidy sum.. What would the city do to us if we left our lawns go so long with out mowing?

jrocco36 If you had one mower and 12 houses how long do you think it would take to mow all 12 lawns? Could you get them done in one day? This is comparing apples to oranges: a city cutting ditch grass or cleaning out the tide-ditch takes a longer time than you mowing 12 lawns. Besides the equipment the city uses is a lot more expensive than a mower...city only has so much equipment. Suing the city? Oh, my goodness!

Went by today 12/8/19 and this issue has not yet been taking care of.... I posted this issue on 9/27/19 But I first reported it on 7/16/19 (Issue 6214983) but the city closed that one because it was older then this one as to not make themselves look so bad
so using Issue 6214983 and this one as a timeline and if this was my property how large would the code violation fine be by now???????
